The centre of the town is the Allée Paul Riquet, a large, shaded boulevard lined with planetrees and lots of restaurants and bars. The old town is a maze of little cobbled streets with interesting artisan shops eventually ending up at the imposing St Nazaire Cathedral with its stunning views of the countryside. LET'S CONNECT! http://tourvideos.com/ Cannes is one of the most legendary towns along the French Riviera, famous for the International Film Festival held in May and home to several super-deluxe luxury hotels fronting on a long sandy beach. But surprisingly, the main shopping area and old section are down-to-earth, with normal prices and a friendly atmosphere. Touring strategies can be summed up in a nutshell: walk from the train station to the waterfront, stroll along the shore to the Old Town, eat and shop, then meander back to the station through the pedestrian area. It's an easy four-block walk from the train station to the shore where you can have a peek at the high life exemplified in the extraordinary hotel palaces lining the grand Boulevard de la Croisette. Nobody will stop you from walking through their lobbies and perhaps pausing for some refreshments. Just beyond the marina on the other side of the Film Festival Hall, you will reach the Old Town of Cannes, easily be missed by those hesitant to walk uphill, but don't be dissuaded. Called "le Suquet," this simple neighborhood is a welcome counterpoint to the ostentatious display of wealth down below. A central lane, Rue Meynadier, is for pedestrians only and runs for about a mile towards the train station, which is where you'll be heading shortly to continue the day's journey. There are plenty of souvenir shops and all variety of merchandise for sale on these busy main streets of Cannes. When you have finally finished your visit to this beautiful city, walk over to the train station and resume your journey.

With its port, long sandy beach, promenade and diverse activities, it makes an excellent base for a summer holiday. Kids love Valras Plage as the promenade seems to have been built specially for them; rollerblading along its flat surface with a stop-off at the little adventure park towards the marina is great fun. Then a stroll around the marina itself to see the fishing and numerous pleasure boats and, in the summer, there is usually a fairground (fete foraine) with tall toboggans and bumper cars. For the smaller kiddies, there is the lady who hires out little pony tricycles... LET'S CONNECT! The temperature is still in the late 20’s in October, so Marrakech is the perfect place to visit if you’re craving some October sun. Head to a Hammam for a traditional Marrakech spa treatment, watch a belly dance or take a stroll in the stunning Jardin Majorelle. Our favourite thing about Marrakech has to be the souks. Souk Semmarine is a great place to start. You’ll find ceramics, kaftans, traditional clothing and, of course, delicious Moroccan food. From October 20th, Austria’s most important film event takes place inside some of the most beautiful cinemas in Vienna’s historic centre. Over 94,000 visitors descend on the film festival to watch a selection of over 300 films from across the globe! While you’re in Vienna we recommend taking in the baroque streetscapes, and stopping by the Belvedere to visit the world’s largest collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt. Golden week is China’s national holiday taking place from October 1st to the 7th, and for the whole week! Although it is peak tourist season, it’s also the time to join in the celebrations and explore what Beijing has to offer. We’d recommend visiting the Forbidden City! It’s China’s largest and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings, and the largest palace complex in the world. It was off limits for 500 years but has been listed a Unesco World Heritage since 1987. Every October people flock to the annual Notte Bianca event in the cityscape of Valletta, Malta! The event is a huge celebration of people, culture and arts and is the perfect excuse to get a bit of October sun. The city’s museums, art galleries and other attractions are open free of charge, and you’ll find the city’s finest musicians, dancers and other creative geniuses lining the streets - it'll definitely be an unforgettable night for everyone. For winter sun head to Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria, which is one of the island’s best beach and sun hot-spots. It’s only about 35 minutes south of the airport, passing the beautiful Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas on the way. It’s absolutely stunning. The beautiful Amadores beach here is ideal for families or anyone who’s not a particularly strong swimmer. There are great harbour walls and sea defences that mean that the waves are tiny and the water’s nice and shallow. However, our favourite thing to do here by far is dolphin watching. We took a tour and it did not disappoint, we saw a whole pod of dolphins swimming around our boat. It was amazing. That’s our top picks for Travelling Better in October! Travel video about destination Marseille in France. Marseille is the most important city in Provence and is situated on the south coast of France. From a distance, one of Marseille's main landmarks rises high above the harbor, the seafarers' church of Notre-Dame de la Garde. With abundant internal furnishings, Byzantine arches, golden mosaics and numerous votives, it is a splendid structure inspired by Byzantine Romanic design. The most impressive religious building in Marseille is a fortified monastery church that dates back to the 5th century, the mighty Abbaye Saint-Victor. Deep down in the rock is an Early Christian crypt and a number of stone sarcophaguses that contain the remains of various holy martyrs that date back to the Roman persecution of the Christians. A boat trip from Cassis leads to one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Europe, Les Calanques, a unique nature reserve where shining white limestone cliffs plunge more than 400 metres into the deep blue sea and extend for 20 kilometres. Sur le pont D'avignon is a world famous French song that is familiar to both young and old alike. It is a song of dance on the bridge of the Pont Saint Bénézet but it is more likely that the people here once danced under the bridge, as that is the location of its bars! A place of radiant light and sweet aromas, with villages that nestle in the rocks like eagles' nests and with cities that have an historic past, Provence is indeed a captivating land full of fascinating contrasts.
